VARANASI: The death of a suspected swine flu patient Manoj Kumar Gupta (21) at Sadiganj muhalla in Machhlishehar area in Jaunpur district on Friday
brought the health department on its toe. The chief medical officer of Jaunpur Dr DK Patoria, however, denied the death due to swine flu infection.
According to the reports, Manoj, who lived in Mumbai for earning livelihood, returned home after a prolonged illness and died on Friday. The CMO said on Saturday that Manoj had been suffering from viral fever for over a month and he asthma problem also. He was under treatment at the municipal hospital in Mumbai, but seeing no improvement in his health condition he came back to his native place.
The, CMO, however, admitted that the throat swab of Manoj was sent for testing during his stay at Mumbai. But the swab test report was not available, said the CMO adding that he was not given the drug of swine flu. He was under treatment for viral fever only, he added. The CMO also went to Machhlishehar on Saturday to take first hand account of the matter.
