Out of the 50 gravely ill patients, who were kept under observation yesterday, nearly half of them have been discharged, Yadav said.

Similarly, Arvind (5), who was suffering from fever, allegedly died at a private hospital in Bareilly on Thursday night. Mystery fever claims two lives in Firozabad village

FIROZABAD: A mystery fever has struck Dikhtoli village affecting more than 300 residents. Two persons, including an adolescent, have reportedly succumbed to the fever. A team of doctors is camping in the village. They are waiting test reports to identify the virus.

According to reports, 50 people have been admitted in a nearby hospital and more than 250 people diagnosed with fever have been prescribed medicine. Doctors said several people are getting treated at private hospitals or heading for Agra.

Three days ago, Dayal Singh,38, succumbed to fever. According to villagers, he died after repeatedly vomiting blood. On Sunday, Jameel, 14, died after nose bleeding.

MEERUT: District magistrate B Chandrakala of Bulandshahr has ordered medical camps to be set up across the district after a 'mystery fever' broke out in Korora village.

"Korora is a village with a population of 13,000 people. 23 people have been admitted to Bulandshahr district hospital and some others have been sent to hospitals in Meerut and Aligarh. In a span of 24 hours, 16 people from Korora village lost their lives. However, not all these deaths were caused by the fever. Some of the deceased were elderly people, who may have simply died of old age. But we cannot deny that at least some of these deaths were caused by the disease. I visited the village and did an inspection," the DM told TOI.

The DM added that while the authorities are still trying to ascertain the exact nature of the disease so it can be fought accurately, it appears to be a dangerous combination of viral fever and malaria.
