Dozens of chickens in Surabaya Dead - Bird Flu Positive
Surabaya - Dozens of chickens died at the Pond in Jalan Genting, District Asemrowo, positive contracted the bird flu. Results after officers of Agriculture Department of Livestock Surabaya perform rapid test using AIV Anigen to chicken that is still alive.
"The result is positive," said the officer Participatory Disease Surveillance Response (PDSR) Agriculture Department of Livestock city of Surabaya, Gagat Rahino, told reporters at the district office Asemrowo, Asemrowo Road, on Wednesday (05/01/2011).
Gagat testified that on the way to the location where the chickens died, it did not find any chicken carcasses are left because it was disposed of their owners. Because there are no chicken carcasses, the rapid test carried out on chickens that are still alive. Chicken saliva obtained from the mouth and anus were tested to AIV Anigen tool similar to pregnancy test kits.
"At first, the result is negative because it comes out only one strip," added Gagat.
But the lapse of an hour later, a second strip slowly began to appear even though the color is faint (dubius). But it is enough to prove if the dozens of dead chickens infected with bird flu. Because in addition to proving through Anigen AIV, other traits also shows characteristics of uanggas affected by bird flu such as comb and head of the blue, out saliva from the mouth of the dead chickens and a population of more than 50%.
"Strip The second came later maybe because we tested it against the surviving chickens. If the test conducted on chicken carcasses, the result would come out faster because many bird flu virus in chicken blood," continued Gagat.
