It usually doesn't arrive this early. But on this we have an influenza outbreak in London. The Middlesex London Health Unit confirmed an outbreak of influenza at a long term care facility. Two residents at Extendicare London have tested positive for the virus and several residents and staff members are showing symptoms.

According to the Middlesex-London Health Unit, two residents of a long-term care home in London have tested positive for the flu. The unit reported the presence of an epidemic of influenza A at the care facility.

The health unit also said that many other staff members in the care facility are suffering from flu-like symptoms.

Cathie Walker, who is the Manager of Infectious Diseases for the health unit, said that it was unexpected that such an outbreak will happen in thecare home.

The outbreak has hit the area two months before the normal time of the flu and the health unit is keeping a close watch on the whole situation.

In case, the flu spreads in other areas, then the authorities will start the vaccination program one month earlier. Walker said, ?It is one of those situations where you wait and see?.

Meanwhile, the health unit has issued a statement urging people to take precautionary measures to prevent the flu. People are requested to take the flu shots and wash their hands frequently with soap and cough into their upper arm.

The officials have reported that the current virus belongs to the H3 influenza A strain and is not the H1N1 pandemic virus that attacked the whole region one year ago.
