East Jerusalem man hospitalized at Hadassah Ein Kerem dies from swine flu after being quarantined and treated intensively by medical staff.

A 30-year-old Israeli man was pronounced dead on Saturday after being hospitalized with swine flu. The man, a resident of east Jerusalem, was checked into the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center on Thursday suffering from severe flu symptoms, after a blood test revealed the potent flu virus strain was present in his blood stream.

The man was quarantined by hospital personnel while he was treated intensively for the disease, but despite their best efforts, the man passed away on Saturday.

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian died Saturday in a Jerusalem hospital after being infected with the H1N1 swine flu virus, his family said.

Simon Naser Qert, from the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem's Old CIty, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Hadassah hospital on Wednesday, and diagnosed with the H1N1 virus on Friday, relatives said.

According to relatives, the 33-year-old had admitted himself to the emergency ward, but doctors initially said his coughing was linked to respiratory problems. He was kept under medical observation.

On Thursday, Qert's parents were informed he was in critical condition, and doctors suspected he had pneumonia, the family said, adding that the swine flu diagnosis was not given until Friday.

The family said they were considering demanding an investigation as Qert had previously enjoyed excellent health and was a body builder. Relatives said they suspected that if he had been diagnosed sooner his death may have been prevented.

Qert will be buried Sunday in Mount Zion in Jerusalem.

Israeli medical sources said the incident was an isolated case, and that there are no signs the virus has spread.

Are these two different cases? I'm seeing different ages, one of 30 -Israeli- and the other of 33 -Palestinian-, but date of death and hospital are the same.

Any thoughts?
