Italy-LP H5N1, Milan (Lombardy), 200 birds

28/03/2018 ? On 28 March, the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease confirmed as positive for Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 a little mixed-species farm in Milan province (Lombardy region). At the time of confirmation, the farm hosted about 200 mixed- species birds. The farm is located in an area characterised by a low density of poultry farms. Samples were collected on 22 March, as part of the monitoring activities provided for by the national surveillance plan for avian influenza.
No evident clinical symptoms were observed in the farm. Further information will be provided as soon as possible.
