Isolation/detection of influenza virus in Japan, from week 36 (September 6-12) of 2010 to week 51 (December 20-26) of 2010
In Japan, prefectural and municipal public health institutes (PHIs) report isolation/detection of infectious agents from specimens collected by sentinel clinics and hospitals under the National Epidemiological Surveillance of Infectious Diseases, other medical institutions and health centers
The number of reports of detection/isolation of AH1pdm decreased from week 4 of 2010 and kept a low level after week 12 of 2010. After week 28, the number of reports of detection/isolation of AH3 exceeded that of AH1pdm. From week 49, the number of detection/isolation of AH1pdm increased
From week 36 of 2010 (the first week of the 2010/11 season) to week 51 of 2010, isolation/detection of AH1pdm from 436 cases in 33 prefectures, seasonal AH3 from 645 cases in 41 prefectures, B/Victoria lineage from 35 cases in 11 prefectures, B/Yamagata lineage from 4 cases in 2 prefectures and B/lineage not determined from 7 case in 5 prefectures were reported
From week 47 (November 22-28) of 2010 to week 51 (December 20-26) of 2010 (as of December 28, 2010)
During five weeks from week 47 to week 51 of 2010, isolation/detection of AH1pdm from 290 cases in 26 prefectures, AH3 from 273 cases in 22 prefctures, B/Victoria lineage from 18 cases in 7 prefectures and B/lineage not determined from 3 cases in 2 prefectures were reported
The proportion of AH1pdm (290 cases) to all influenza virus (584 cases) is 50%. Of 584 cases, 4 were imported cases (AH1pdm from all 4 cases)
