Japan logs coldest day this winter, 29C below zero in one Hokkaido town

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Temperatures dropped to the lowest levels so far this winter in many areas in Japan on Thursday, with the town of Rikubetsu in Hokkaido experiencing the most frigid morning with the mercury plunging to 29.1 C below zero, the national weather agency said.
