TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE) - Kansas' heath department said six residents, all under the age of 18, have tested positive for measles this year.

Data from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment shows three of the cases are in the 5-10 age group and there are one each in the 0-4, 11-13 and 14-17 age groups. No adult cases have been confirmed.

​A spokesperson for the KDHE told Kansas City news station KSHB that the six cases involve in unvaccinated individuals. There have been no hospitalizations reported.

The KDHE reported last week reported the state's first positive case since 2018. A resident of Stevens County tested positive for measles. Now, data indicates the six confirmed cases are in Stevens and Grant counties.

Early symptoms of measles are a fever of more than 101 degrees Fahrenheit, runny nose, cough, and red, watery eyes. Usually, one to four days after these early symptoms, a red rash appears on the face and spreads to the rest of the body...

​TOPEKA (KSNT) – State health officials report the number of measles cases is growing in Kansas this year as cases climb nationwide.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) reported on March 20 on its website that a total of 10 confirmed measles cases are confirmed in the state. All of the cases are being reported in people who are below the age of 17 with the majority in the five to 10-year-old age group.

The KDHE confirmed the first case of measles in a Kansas resident since 2018 on March 13. Multiple other cases were identified earlier this week in Morton and Stevens Counties in southwest Kansas.​..

A measles outbreak in Kansas doubled in less than a week to 23 cases and has "a possible link” to outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico that have sickened more than 370, state health officials said Wednesday.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment put doctors on high alert on Monday and recommended early vaccination for infants 6 to 11 months old who live in outbreak counties or near them. Usually, children get the measles, mumps and rubella shot after they turn 1. In outbreaks, early vaccination can be an option.

The state's last count Friday included 10 cases across three southwestern counties: Grant, Morton and Stevens. Now, the outbreak includes Haskell, Gray, and Kiowa counties. All but two of the cases are in people younger than 18, state data shows. The outbreak started with a measles case in Stevens County identified March 13.​..

FINNEY COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - Another case of measles was confirmed in southwestern Kansas this week.

The Finney County Health Department reports that a resident over the age of 50 tested positive for measles after recently traveling out of state. The department said they have not yet determined if the case is connected to any known measles outbreaks in the U.S.

According to reports from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, this case marks the 25th measles case in the state.

The cases come from seven southwestern Kansas counties: Stevens, Morton, Grant, Haskell, Gray, Kiowa and Finney.​..

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - On Wednesday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported that Kansas now has 32 confirmed cases of measles, with one individual currently hospitalized. Measles, which was eliminated roughly 20 years ago, has returned to the Sunflower State.

The cases come from eight southwestern Kansas counties: Stevens, Morton, Grant, Haskell, Gray and Kiowa, Finney and Ford.

Most of the reported cases to KDHE come from unvaccinated people. KDHE reported on Wednesday that 27 of the cases were from people who were not vaccinated for measles.

The KDHE said the confirmed cases in Kansas are possibly linked to the outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico.​..

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - The State of Kansas reported another increase in measles cases over the past week.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment‘s weekly update showed 46 measles cases, up from the 37 reported from the previous two weeks.

The cases remain confined to eight counties in southwest Kansas: Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Haskell, Kiowa, Morton and Stevens.

Haskell County had the most reported cases with eight.

All but eight of the cases are in children. One person had to be hospitalized for treatment.

The outbreak remains concentrated in southwest Kansas, primarily affecting unvaccinated children.
Kansas has the third-highest number of measles cases in the U.S., following Texas and New Mexico.
Health officials recommend two doses of the MMR vaccine for children and one or two doses for adults, depending on their risk factors.

Public health officials reported nine new measles cases in Kansas in the past week after not recording any new cases the week before.

Measles cases spread in Kansas, now reported in 10 counties

The number of measles cases continue to climb in Kansas, with the state reporting that another patient was hospitalized because of the highly contagious disease, according to Kansas health officials.

The state saw eight new cases, bringing to the total number to 56 cases as of Wednesday, up from 48 cases a week ago, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s 2025 Kansas Measles Case Data dashboard.​

The number of hospitalizations now stands at two. There have been no deaths so far.

The vast majority of cases, 54, are related to the outbreak that is concentrated in the southwestern part of Kansas. Measles cases have been reported in eight counties in that area: Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Haskell, Kiowa, Morton and Stevens counties.

Two cases, however, have been reported in the past week in the Wichita and Hutchinson areas, raising the number of counties where measles has been reported to 10. Reno and Sedgwick counties were added to the list this past week...

Measles Cases Rise to 90 in Kansas, Spread Across 12 Counties with Four Outbreaks Still Active

Measles cases have now been reported in 12 Kansas counties, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s 2025 Measles Case Data dashboard.

Health officials recently corrected earlier data, reassigning two cases from Haskell County to Seward County. However, Seward County currently has no active outbreak-related cases.

Confirmed measles cases have risen slightly in recent weeks, increasing to 90 as of Wednesday, up from 86 on July 7. Most cases—87 of them—are tied to an outbreak in southwest Kansas. Eight patients have been hospitalized, one more than earlier this month. No deaths have been reported.​..

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says the measles outbreak in southwest Kansas is over.

The outbreak began in January and led to 87 confirmed cases by late August. Most of those infected were children, and more than 90% were not vaccinated. Eight people were hospitalized.

With no new cases reported in the past 42 days, KDHE states that doctors can return to the standard measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine schedule for children.​..
