Preparation for disaster response kicks off
(KPL) Community Based Preparation for Disaster Response has been recently implemented.
The Lao Red Cross held a workshop on community-based preparation for natural disaster response here yesterday.
The four-year project was initiated by the International Red Cross with support from the Japan Red Cross Council.
The workshop was attended by officials from domestic Red Cross, international organisations and relevant sectors from four target provinces of Khammouane, Savannakhet, Attapeu, and Champassak.
The project aims at reducing impacts of disasters on people especially focusing on disaster management in the target provinces.
The participants also discussed raising awareness of people on disaster management, the training of domestic red cross? officials, and the selection of volunteers.
