Selangor dengue hotspots down

PUTRAJAYA: The combined force of seven ministries under Ops Mega has managed to reduce dengue hotspots in Selangor from 92 to 86, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin said this was achieved by increasing dengue control activities from between 20% and 30% to between 50% and 60%, especially in localities under the local authorities.

Ops Mega, which was launched on July 14 to reduce the number of dengue cases by 60% to 80% through activities such as increasing rubbish collection, would continue until next month, he added...

Dengue fever battle far from over

PUTRAJAYA: The number of dengue cases in the Klang Valley has begun to plateau, bringing hope that the disease is waning after it spiked tremendously in the past several months.

3,070 Dengue Cases Recorded Between Aug 10 And 16

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 20 (Bernama)-- The number of dengue fever cases rose to 3,070 nationwide for the period Aug 10 to 16 from 2,980 cases recorded in the previous week.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said Kelantan recorded the highest cases with a total of 1,334 cases, which represented 44 percent of the total number of cases for the week.

"Accumulated number of dengue cases from January up to Aug 16 throughout the country was 62,860 cases, an increase of 45,585 cases compared with 17,275 cases recorded last year (2013)," he said at a media conference after chairing the ministry's post-cabinet meeting at the Health Ministry, here Wednesday...

IPOH: Perak state department has reported 3,657 dengue fever cases and eight deaths up till now, said Health, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs, national Integration and New Villages committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

He said Aedes mosquito-breeding in rubbish disposal areas and vacant lots contributed almost 50% to dengue fever...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia?Malaysia is reeling from a deadly outbreak of dengue, with nearly four times more deaths so far this year compared with the same period in 2013.

As of Aug. 30, Malaysia reported 131 dengue-related deaths and 68,144 infections this year. That compares with 38 deaths and 18,923 cases over the same period last year.

Researchers point to a mix of causes for the rise, especially the appearance of a more virulent strain of dengue, referred to as DEN-2...

75,000 dengue cases recorded so far


MALACCA: The number of dengue cases in the country has tripled to more than 75,000 as of this week, compared to the same period last year.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya said there were 143 fatalities compared to 47 in the same period last year.

149 Deaths Resulting From Dengue Recorded This Year Compared To 48 Last Year

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- A total of 149 deaths resulting from dengue was recorded nationwide in the first nine months of the year, compared to only 48 cases during the same period last year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam said this is a significant increase, whereby 77,527 dengue fever cases were recorded compared to 23,099 cases last year.

153 dengue-related deaths recorded as of mid-October, says Ministry of Health
OCTOBER 18, 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — As of mid-October, a total of 153 fatal dengue cases were recorded nationwide, as compared to 55 deaths during the same period last year.



Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there was also a huge spike in the number of dengue fever cases in the same period.

He said 80,578 cases were recorded as compared to 25,119 cases in the same period last year.

Dengue Cases In Penang On The Rise

GEORGE TOWN: A spike in dengue cases reported within a month in Penang has raised concern from the state health authority.

Penang recorded 1,821 dengue cases from Jan to Oct 18 compared to 1,598 cases from Jan to Sept 27.

State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said over a two-fold increase in dengue cases were reported compared to the same period last year.

Dr Afif said there had been five deaths reported as of Oct 18 compared to four fatalities for the whole of 2013...

Big jump in dengue cases in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: THE number of dengue cases recorded in the city so far this year has gone up by 158 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

City Hall health and environment department deputy director Dr Ahmad Zaidi Zainal Abidin said 5,448 cases were recorded up to the second week of October.

He said 13 deaths were also recorded in the city this year...

157 dengue related deaths recorded as of October


KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28, 2014:

A total of 82,738 dengue cases with 157 deaths were reported in the country as of Oct 18, according to the Health Ministry.

The sum, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah noted, was a surge from the 26,527 cases and 59 deaths recorded in the corresponding period last year.

Noor Hisham revealed that the rise in the number of cases occurred in nine states, namely Selangor, Malacca, Terengganu, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Johor and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya...

Selangor Records 1,000 Dengue Cases Within A Week

SHAH ALAM, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The level of dengue infections in Selangor is getting serious with 1,000 new cases were recorded within a week, according to Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said as at last Friday, a total of 42,478 dengue cases with 59 deaths were reported in the state this year.

BALI, November 9 (RIA Novosti) - Dengue fever has claimed 169 lives in Malaysia since the beginning of 2014 and until November 6, the number of infected continues to grow, Malaysian Health Ministry said.
According to the Ministry in the same period of 2013 the number of dengue victims stood at 62.
The number of those infected with dengue in 2014 has reached 88,200 as opposed to 30,770 in the same period of 2013, the Star newspaper reported Sunday.

DESPITE the rise in dengue cases, the Ampang Jaya municipality has seen its dengue hotspots reduced from 10 to six since the beginning of the year.

Compared with 2,138 cases reported last year, there has been an alarming rise in the number of cases in the same period this year ? 4,026 dengue cases and three deaths as of Nov 16 this year...

KUCHNG: A total of 1,762 dengue cases reported in the state for the first ten months of the year compared to 1,100 cases for the same period last year, an increase of 60 per cent.

190 deaths, 93,383 dengue cases recorded this year

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 190 deaths were recorded in some 98,383 dengue cases between January and Dec 7, this year, making it the highest number of casualties recorded in a single year, as compared to statistics gathered over the past few years.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 48,691, or almost half of all reported cases, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
