No more dead birds found, says department
IPOH: Perak Veterinary Services Department has carried out several inspections and has not found any more dead birds at Panorama Lapangan Perdana in Pasir Putih here.
Assistant state veterinary officer A. Muniandy said a team revisited the site yesterday following news that residents had found 15 dead birds in their gardens since last Wednesday.
?We did not find any more dead birds. We take this as a good sign and there should be no cause for concern,? he said.
Another team from the state Health Department also inspected the area.
Last Sunday, businessman Yong Choon Choy, 53, a resident, had expressed concern after seeing some of the birds dropping dead in his garden.
A total of 53,662 birds and 6,279 eggs had been destroyed in March following the detection of the bird flu virus in four areas in Perak.
