Tamiflu distribution to start
Persons prescribed Tamiflu can send a person who is over 18 to collect it, as the A(H1N1) strategy takes a new turn, in line with WHO and ECDC recommendations, and those displaying flu symptoms within certain categories, are to be administered Tamiflu without testing.
These include pregnant women, children under the age of five, people of all ages who seem to be developing complications and all people who are at greater risk of doing so, such as those who suffer from some chronic illness or those with a weak immune system.
All those persons who do not fall into these categories will be treated normally, and will not be given Tamiflu.
Tamiflu can be collected from the following places:
Government Pharmacies
Birkirkara, Paola, Mosta, Cospicua, Floriana, Qormi, Luqa, Gzira
Monday to Friday 8am - 1pm
Saturday 8am - noon
Mount Carmel Hospital
Monday to Friday 8am - 2.30pm
Saturday 8am - noon
Karen Grech Hospital
Monday to Friday 8am - 3.30pm
During these times Tamiflu will not be given to persons over 18 from the Mater Dei pharmacy.
Mater Dei Hospital
Monday to Saturday 1.30pm - 8am
Sundays and Public Holidays 8am - 8am
Gozo
Tamiflu can be collected from the General Hospital pharmacy, between 8am and 1pm, and from the administrative office, from 1pm to 8am.
Tamiflu prescriptions for children can be collected only from the Mater Dei pharmacy, which is open all hours, or the Gozo General Hospital.
