Marylanders Possibly Exposed To Measles

BALTIMORE -- State health officials are warning the public that someone with measles may have exposed others in the past week to the highly contagious viral illness.

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued a statement Wednesday indicating that a person with measles traveled through the areas of Catonsville, the Eastern Shore and downtown Baltimore in the past week.

Anyone who may have been at the following locations at the listed times may have been exposed to measles, state officials said.

# Tuesday, May 31 Giant Food grocery store, 6223 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
# Montgomery Plaza Liquors, 6225 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

# Wednesday, June 1 Catonsville High School Graduation at the UMBC RAC Center between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

# Thursday, June 2 Applebee's Restaurant, 8999 Ocean Gateway Drive in Easton, between 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

# Friday, June 3 Oriole Park at Camden Yards beginning at 7 p.m.
# MTA Light Rail from 11 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.

BALTIMORE- The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene notified the community last month about a person with measles who could have exposed others in Maryland while infectious. While many people could have been at risk, DHMH announced Monday that no additional related cases of measles have been identified but added that Marylanders should continue to protect themselves with vaccination and vigilance...

New cases of measles confirmed in the state

Montgomery County health officials said they have confirmed two cases of measles and are looking for others who may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.

These are the first cases since 2009, though state health officials warned last week about a passenger who rode an Amtrak train who may have been exposed to the virus. A non-Maryland resident who traveled to the state also was diagnosed in June with measles.

The two children arrived in the country Aug. 24 and were unvaccinated. They had not yet shown symptoms on Aug. 29 when they went to the Suburban Washington Resettlement Center at 8700 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring and possibly exposed others...
