Mexican president inaugurates vaccination campaign against A (H1N1)

January 15, 2010, 00:01Mexico, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) Mexican president, Felipe Calder?n, will lead today the official launch of the national vaccination campaign against influenza A (H1N1) for the benefit of some 30 million citizens, the Health Ministry reported.
The event takes place at the official residence of Los Pinos and answers the government's willingness to protect population groups at risk of contracting viral diseases.
Since last January 11, the current offensive immunization with proven injections, recently argued the owner of Health Jose Angel Cordova.
The interest of the authorities that all citizens are protected susceptible "to treat the number of patients and deaths is minimized," the minister reiterated recently.
According to officials, the epidemic of influenza A (H1N1) has a stable behavior in the country, while increasing the demand for consultations for respiratory diseases, because of the severe winter conditions in much of the country.
The 30 million doses, said Cordova, must be implemented before the end of next March.
Pregnant Women, medical personnel, children six to 24 months old and caregivers of children were among the priority sectors, but this season was extended to all citizens at risk factors stressed by the Secretary of Health.
Among the latter, included patients with unstable diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular and neuromuscular problems, immune deficiencies such as cancer, AIDS or chronic lung problems.
