Epidemiological commentsAs part of the active epidemiological surveillance, the serological presence of Aujeszky's disease was detected in four backyards in Tamaulipas State and in one pig farm in Guerrero State without clinical signs. In all five outbreaks, ELISA and serological neutralization test results were positive. So far, the virus has not been isolated. Producers in the area were advised to immediately inform official veterinarians of the presence of characteristic signs of the disease and to avoid the movement of pigs and the introduction of herds presenting a risk in the area.

Epidemiological commentsDerived from epidemiological sampling around the outbreak, Aujeszky's disease was detected in two backyards in the state of Tamaulipas and in four backyards in the state of Guerrero. In all six outbreaks, seroneutralisation tests resulted positive. None of the pigs showed clinical signs. Producers in the area were advised to immediately notify the official veterinarian of the presence of signs of the disease. It was also recommended to avoid the movement of pigs and the introduction of herds that represent a risk.

Epidemiological commentsFollowing epidemiological sampling around the outbreaks in the State of Nayarit, pigs with positive serology for Aujeszky's disease were detected in six backyards in the municipality of El Nayar. The pigs identified had no clinical signs. In the 6 outbreaks, serum neutralisation tests were positive and the virus was not isolated. All the pigs with positive serology and their contacts have been killed and no more infected animals or cases of the disease have been detected in the affected municipalities of the States of Tamaulipas, Guerrero and Nayarit. Therefore, in accordance with Article 8.2.4.3a of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, this event is considered closed.
