Whooping Cough Diagnosed

Immunizations are expected to be administered today to as many as 90 students at Eastwood Elementary School following a confirmed case of whopping cough at the Sturgis Public Schools building.

The fifth-grade student was diagnosed with whooping cough last week, prompting county health officials to review health records of students at the school. About 90 were found to be in need of immunization or immunization booster shots, district officials said...

Health officials: Whooping cough cases on the rise

The Livingston County Department of Public Health is advising area residents of an increase of whooping cough cases.

For the first six months of 2012, the department has received 34 reports of confirmed or probable cases of the disease in the community, with 20 cases since late May...

Physicians at the American Academy of Pediatrics Michigan Chapter is urging families and parents throughout the state to have their children vaccinated against pertussis, commonly known as whopping cough, and other infectious diseases with dangerous outbreaks on the rise in Michigan and across the nation...
