SWARTZ CREEK, MI -- The Michigan Department of Agriculture has confirmed that a horse that raced in Swartz Creek in December tested positive for equine herpes virus, a potentially deadly viral disease that affects horses.

State Veterinarian Steven Halstead said that the horse initially displayed symptoms of equine herpes virus, or EHV-1, after a race at Sports Creek Raceway in Swartz Creek...
