An employee at a day camp for children in Rochester Hills contracted bacterial meningitis, Oakland County health officials confirm.

The Macomb County resident worked at Life Time Fitness, 200 W. Avon in Rochester Hills.

"We are currently notifying parents of campers and employees," Oakland County Health Division Manager Kathy Forzley said in a statement Thursday. "The individual cannot be identified because of laws protecting personal health information."

The Health Department is attempting to contact anyone who came in contact with the employee between July 1 and July 11...

College student dies from bacterial meningitis

Oakland County, Mich. (WJRT) -- Those who knew her say Kristy Malter was a beautiful young lady who graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in 2013. They also say she was a member of their cheer team, was smart and adored children.

Krity worked at a day camp at the LifeTime Fitness gym in Rochester Hills, Michigan. More than 200 children, ages five through 12, who attended the camp may have been exposed to bacterial meningitis.

Lifetime Fitness sent out an email notifying its members about what happened.
