GUADALAJARA, JALISCO (10/ENE/2011) .- Again, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SJS) is calling on pregnant women to come to get vaccinated against seasonal influenza because some of the cases that have arisen more complications, have been in this population group.
Public Health Director of the department, Mario Amezcua M?rquez reported that, so far, are about seven pregnant women that have had to be hospitalized for pneumonia. In one, the medical evidence was positive to the virus, while the rest of the cases are considered suspect and are still under study.
However, it has found a relationship between stage of pregnancy and critical complications with influenza virus. Currently keeping under review the death of a woman in gestational stage, who died with symptoms related to seasonal flu.
"We invite the public to remain vigilant, especially pregnant women, so we reiterate the emphasis on attending to be vaccinated."
The health sector in the State has implemented a total of 975 thousand vaccines against seasonal influenza, which is equivalent to 67% of the goal of one million 459 thousand doses to be applied throughout the winter.
The SSJ is at 54% progress in the implementation of biological application, while the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), Jalisco recorded 84% of vaccines given and the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE ) 30% of its goal.
Seasonal influenza cases have a significant recovery this winter, and the State Laboratory of the SSJ is studying about 90 samples suspected of the disease. During 2010 there were about 160 infections from this type of virus throughout the institution.
