Tunica Elementary Student Dies From Bacterial Meningitis

A first grader from Tunica Elementary School has died after contracting bacterial meningitis.

The death of the six-year-old, who died at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., has both parents and students at Tunica Elementary rattled.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Tunica County Schools Superintendent Steve Chandler said the strain is not contagious and that students don't have to continue taking medication as a precaution...
