:tiphat: I cut some of the more blatant anti govt pieces out of this opinon story, but you get the idea the man thinks things are bein covered up and he is pretty mad about it..he also claims the virus is airorne and as soon as a child coughs or sneezes, I also think it is.

For months the Obama administration has been working to scare the hell out of every American concerning a “world wide pandemic” of the H1N1 “swine flu” virus. This week, Obama health officials are out in number warning that the virus will infect 50% of Americans over the coming weeks, and that at least 90,000 Americans will die, double the number of normal flu season fatalities...

My Personal Experience
A little over three weeks ago, my kids returned to school. A week after school started, we received an automated phone call from the school board notifying parents that the H1N1 flu had already shown up in the school district, but no specific schools in the county were named.
We asked our local school officials who advised that they knew of no outbreak at our local schools.
Last week, our son tried to help one of his friends who had taken ill on the bus ride to school, and was vomiting by the time he arrived at school. A few days later, our son was not feeling well and by Sunday, he was running a fever and in bed.
Monday, he was diagnosed with H1N1 “swine flu” by our family doctor and put on Tamiflu. He is managing just fine at present. But this is where the story gets very interesting.
According to the doctor, a patient is most contagious for 72 hours BEFORE any symptoms show, during which time the patient will continue on with life as usual, while unknowingly spreading the virus.
The doctor stated that her office has seen approximately 25 confirmed cases in the few days before seeing our son, from the same school. My wife asked why parents had not been notified and what the doctor said next was shocking...
ALL school boards and administrators have been issued a “hush notice” by the government, in which they are ordered NOT to make any “school specific” announcements concerning an outbreak of H1N1.
We then called the school principle and asked how many kids were out sick. On Monday, the principle stated that our son was only the second case he knew about. However, other lower level school officials had a different take on the matter, stating that a rapidly growing numbers of kids were leaving school sick.
Wednesday morning, our daughter woke up ill as well, and was immediately put on Tamiflu. Again we spoke to the school principles who still claimed to have no idea how many cases might be in the school, even though more than 30 kids were now missing from class and 17 High School teachers were already out with H1N1....
I have since talked two with school teachers in our extended family and in two other parts of the country, and they both immediately confirmed that a “gag order” from the government was in affect nationwide. By the time any “school specific” announcements are made, the school will be closed and many will be infected.
Despite the fact that the World Health Organization and the Federal Government have been all over the TV screen trying to create a panic over a swine flu pandemic for months now, the reason given for the “gag order” among schools and doctors is, so as not to create any “public panic.”
Bottom line, the government plan is to keep healthy kids in school with children already infected and spreading the disease until they show symptoms, at which time they are booted from school for a week. But the infection has already been passed...

Our H1N1 Experience

It is not bacterial, but a virus and it is air-born. So you can wash your hands all you want and it won't avoid the virus.
In short, if you breathe air with someone exposed to the virus but not yet showing symptoms, you are almost certain to contract the virus. But you will not show symptoms for 3 to 5 days after exposure, during which time you will infect many others.
This explains why Federal health officials are on TV in force this week projecting that 50% of all Americans will be infected and an estimated 100,000 will die over the coming “flu season.”

Since the government is silent on letting parents know which schools are infected, parents will continue sending healthy children to class until they come home sick. On this basis, the 50% infected and 100,000 dead might be understated, as they are making NO serious attempt to stop the spread of the virus.
Suggesting that the government is in any way serious about stopping the spread of H1N1 is akin to suggesting they are serious about stopping the next 9/11 while refusing to close the borders.

90% of H1N1 diagnosis stops at the local doctor's office. Less than 10% of the cases confirmed by your local health care provider are ever shipped to the CDC for further official government confirmation.
But the government usually reports only the number of cases confirmed by the CDC. As a result, the real number of cases is actually TEN TIMES that being reported by the Fed or their adoring left wing press.
And, since we wouldn't want to create a panic by giving parents information they have a right and a need to know, that number will continue to explode beyond all estimates offered.
The number already infected is more than ten times the number reported. Schools and doctors have been ordered NOT to release the name of schools showing an outbreak. Kids are not removed from school until they are showing symptoms, which is after they have already infected others for a few days, guaranteeing that the virus will continue to spread.

Recent report from China (see EID paper on Sci Library) highlights that H1N1 2009 seems to be sustained by droplets transmission instead ''air-borne''. Perhaps, more research into this field could elucidate better the possible use of social distancing in reduce transmission rate.

I read a paper today on PB2/627K from 2008 by Taubenberger that had the same conclusion. Their testing showed that flu with 627E did not spread well via airborne methods, but rather via contacted surfaces.

AirBORNE or DropletBORNE - the viral contamination are in both cases also suspended in the air by dust particles, more or less.

Thinking that if it is launched by droplets, the virus will fall down after a hit of 2 meters, so if you are more distant you can't catch it, is not precisely true.
It is true that mainly it does fall, but obviously after be dried and mixed with the omnipresent fine dust particles, it will take off by air streams and will fluctuate some time in the air nearby, or more distant by the non-enaugh filtered climatization, or wind streams (and act as how it is airborne), with more or less probability to be inhaled into our lungs when we breath, if we do that without a mask.

Also, by switching out from health academic, or scientific spreading diferences which are important but not so much at the streets / public levels virus defence:
we all know that social distancing of 2-3 meters in the streets, transportation vehicles, banks, offices, public offices, stores, etc., are IMO, by real people executing - only fiction.

This cannot be done in such big populated places without the use of sealed N masks and gloves.

In little places could be done if people are educated, trained, and self-controled, which will be hardly done in areas where it is dificult to even promote the usage of masks (current northern hemisf. countries now), because quoted as silly idea stamped as "ineffective" by the public health advisors.

So, in such environment, suggesting social distancing because it is a droplet transmission will be inefective - unless it will be started by vertics directives of public closures, banned gatherings, and contemplated scheduled, one in line distanced, public office/stores/.../ activity, with mask/gloves on in proximity activities or public transport - nomasks/gloves suggest an public transport closure.

I see parts of the given factual text (excerpted), as an real life on the field confirmation of the theory that the schools must be closed in an pandemic event, not stays open until the virus spreads everywhere into schools and than already done it (indirectly from there everywhere out).

The real reasons of such mostly worldwide (but not everywhere) enforced policy of not closing, remains concealed - because there are other hystoric and modern research studies which stated that it is better, and sucessfull, to close the schools and some other gatherings, in pandemic times (such "better schools closed" results of some studies were also in the German-Docter threads about, plus some other).

The routes of excretion of disease agents, or portals of exit, and the quantitative scale of excretion by each route comprise another important element in the evolution of swine diseases, says New Zealand animal health expert Roger Morris.

Most agents can be excreted by more than one route, but frequently one route predominates under typical circumstances. For example, an agent may principally be excreted by the fecal route, but there may be a low level of respiratory route excretion. Changes in the antigenic structure may change this so that the volume of infectious material excreted as an aerosol may increase and change the pattern of disease, says Morris.

Respiratory coronavirus is an example where a relatively minor change in the transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) virus produced a variant agent. This agent was transmitted principally by the respiratory route in place of the fecal route. The agent was much less pathogenic, according to Morris.

Influenza A viruses are a good example of an agent where different strains show varied mixes of aerosol and fecal/fomite transmission. Different patterns are determined by quite small differences in the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase genes.

The application of some control measures or management changes may reduce one transmission mechanism substantially while leaving another unaltered, Morris says. This might reduce the disease overall, but favor the selection of strains that are more capable of aerosol transmission, he says. The disease may rebound in incidence while becoming resistant to control measures that are ineffective against this route of transmission."

Tourist in China Spread Swine Flu While Talking, Study Says

Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- An American tourist in China spread swine flu while talking to fellow bus passengers at close range, suggesting that virus-laden droplets expelled from the mouth are a key mode of transmission, scientists found.
The 40-year-old woman who traveled in early June from New York to Jiuzhaigou, a popular tourist spot in southwestern China, probably sparked an outbreak among 30 members of her holiday group, the researchers said in a study in the October edition of the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.
The woman developed symptoms about a day after leaving the U.S. and spent almost 7 hours riding with the group on an air- conditioned bus. Those who chatted with her for at least 10 minutes within a 2-meter (6.6-foot) range, regardless of their seat or other forms of social contact, had a greater risk of infection, the authors said. The finding suggests preventing transmission by droplets may foil the spread of the pandemic bug.

?Our data show that this outbreak was caused by talking with the index case-patient at close range, which indicates droplet transmission,? wrote Ke Han, a researcher with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Beijing, and colleagues. ?Conversely, other kinds of contact, such as dining at the same table and receiving chewing gum from the index case-patient, played no role during this outbreak.?

The researchers, who included officials from provincial disease-control centers, studied the outbreak to identify the source of infection, mode of transmission and risk factors.
?Distinctive Hairstyle?
The index case had ?a highly distinctive hairstyle, which made her easy to remember,? the authors wrote.
Nine of the 16 tourists who spoke with the infected woman, or index case, at close range for 2 minutes or more caught the new H1N1 influenza virus, whereas none of the 14 tourists who didn?t talk to her became ill, according to the study.

Tour group members who talked to the woman for at least 10 minutes were almost five times as likely to become ill than those who spoke with her for 2 to 9 minutes, they said.
During this outbreak, the woman had a fever while traveling on three flights, and a person who subsequently became infected also flew while feverish, they said. A third patient caught a flight while suffering from a headache.
The fevers weren?t detected by thermal scanning at airports, according to the study. All three passengers didn?t truthfully inform health authorities of their symptoms in health questionnaires they were required to complete, the report said.
