Initially local authorities said there was no man-made source, (at least as far as legally permitted activities). It's concerning that someone may be using explosives on this scale, (photo below shows damage to a home), secretly and without oversight. This recent event may have followed another event a few weeks ago, too.

Hamblen County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Bell said he met with county Mayor Bill Brittain Wednesday morning to discuss a plan of action.

?We met to see what needs to be done to move forward on this. We are investigating any leads. Now that we have a minimum of three confirmed similar events, that should help us when we speak with geologists,? Bell said.

While possible conspiracies and numerous theories are circulating, authorities have been able to determine the following causes are either not likely or completely eliminated from consideration...

Cave collapses are one theory still in the running.
