Measles outbreak spreads

THE measles outbreak that was earlier confirmed at villages in Omuthiya Constituency has spread to the Oniipa Constituency, Oshikoto Region director of health Peter Angala says.

According to Angala six new measles cases have been confirmed at Omadhiya village, four at Onguma, three at Ompugulu, one at Okankuzi/Oshigambo, one at Ohadiwa/Onamunkulo, one at Onalulago, one at Onaame and one at Onamulunga village, all in the Oniipa Constituency.
So far, Angala said, 30 cases have been confirmed. Some of the affected people are receiving treatment at the Onandjokwe and Oshakati hospitals...

Namibia: Another Ohangwena Measles Outbreak

THE Directorate of Health and Social Services has announced that it is currently busy with a measles vaccination campaign in Ohangwena Region, after another measles outbreak in the Engela district recently.

According to the acting health director for Ohangwena Region, John Hango, 18 measles cases were suspected in September this year of which five have been confirmed.

Hango said the ministry started the vaccination campaign on Tuesday in villages where the cases were confirmed, as well as in other 12 surrounding villages. These include Oshikango, Onamhinda, Eeshoke, Ohalushu, Okamukwa and Omafo...
