Coronavirus-related deaths on Navajo Nation now at 13

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The number of coronavirus-related deaths on the Navajo Nation is now 13, according to authorities.

The Navajo Department of Health and Navajo Area Indian Health Service announced one new death and 51 new confirmed cases.

Of the 321 confirmed positive cases, most are in Arizona including 137 in Navajo County.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – The Navajo Nation has confirmed a 14th death from the coronavirus. As of numbers released Monday, there were a total of 354 cases on the reservation – an increase of 33 cases from Saturday.

A total of 2,150 people have been tested.

Navajo COVID-19 cases increase by 70, death toll rises to 22

The Navajo Nation Health Command Operations Center reported 558 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, an increase in 70 cases from the day before. The Navajo Nation reported two more COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 22 Navajo deaths from the disease. There have been 2,381 negative COVID-19 test results.

The number of coronavirus cases on the nation's largest Native American reservation jumped by 17% Saturday as the Navajo Nation prepared to get new rapid-test kits.

The Navajo Nation said in a statement that the number of cases on the 27,000-square-mile (70,000-square-kilometer) reservation that sprawls across Arizona, New Mexico and Utah rose to 698 Saturday, up 101 from the day before. So far, a total of 24 people have died from complications of COVID-19.

PHOENIX – Leaders of the Navajo Nation are self-quarantining after being exposed to a COVID-19 patient amid an outbreak that has killed more than 20 members of their tribe.

President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer were in close proximity to a first responder on Tuesday who later was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus, according to a press release from the Navajo Nation. Nez and Lizer said they are “feeling fine,” but will continue self-quarantining as a precaution, Thursday’s press release said...

After taking Easter day off from posting the COVID-19 cases the Navajo Epidemiology Center reported on Monday an increase of 115 cases since Saturday, totaling 813 and 28 deaths on Navajo.

The difference between Friday and Saturday was 101.

A total of 4,028 tests have been performed, of which 3,028 have returned negative results.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (ABC4 News) – According to the Navajo Department of Health and Navajo Area Indian Health Service, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center, the Navajo Nation has reached 921 positive tests for COVID-19 and 38 confirmed deaths from the virus as of Monday.
