KATHMANDU, MAY 09 - Water samples from the jaundice -affected area in Biratnagar Sub Metropolitan City have shown a high presence of Coliform bacteria, indicating that the outbreak might be due to consumption of contaminated water. The result of the test conducted by the National Public Health Laboratory on Thursday showed that four of the ten water samples sent from the jaundice -affected area of Biratnagar contained a high presence of Coliform bacteria. Jaundice outbreak claims 10 lives in Morang

BIRATNAGAR, May 11 : Jaundice outbreak in Morang district that began nearly a month ago has turned into an epidemic as is still out of control. The death toll from the deadly disease has hit 10 as of Sunday.
According to Nawaraj Subba, the chief of the District Public Health Office (DPHO) Morang, 10 people succumbed to the disease since the outbreak started in the district.
He further said that more jaundice patients have been visiting the hospitals and health centers.
As per the DPHO?s record maintained as of Sunday, a total of 1,259 jaundice patients have been receiving treatment at various hospitals, clinics and health centers in Morang while many others have visited Kathmandu and Indian cities for treatment...
