Girl (5) dies from swine flu

In Oostwold, East Groningen 5-year-old girl died from the swine flu . Hans Coenraads, Groningen assistance service spokesman, said that the girl already had a reduced resistance.

Coenraads will not say whether she is the first flu death in the province of Groningen. "The RIVM publishes weekly on Friday the number of flu deaths." The Health Service (GGD) has contacted the school of the girl.

Her 6-year-old sister is at the Christian school "De Wegwijzer". According to the protocol of GGD and RIVM the director of the school will be informed of the death.

Director Age van der Meer said that in GGD Groningen will discuss how the parents of more than ninety pupils should be informed.
