The new facility will provide labs, offices and animal space for animal health scientists and researchers. Scientists worked last year to test the first samples of H1N1, leading to the discovery that infected pigs did not have the virus in their tissues and confirming the safety of the food supply. U.S. Sec. of Agriculture and former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack spoke at the ceremony.
