No fewer than six persons have reportedly died following a fresh outbreak of cholera in Bali local government area of Taraba State.

A deputy director of health in the local government, Mr. Adamu Alura, who stated this yesterday during an interview with journalists, said that six people have already lost their lives while twenty-seven others are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in the local government...

Cholera outbreak: Refugees flee camp in Borno

Following the cholera and Malaria outbreak at the Internally Displaced Persons Camp located at Government Girls? Secondary School Biu, residents have started fleeing the camp to Gombe and Maiduguri.

An official of the camp, who does not want his name in print, told our correspondent that on Saturday, over twelve vehicles had left the camp to Maiduguri and Gombe refugee camps in fear of contacting cholera, adding that 23 people died in the camp.

He nine were victims of cholera epidemics, while the others died of malaria and other related diseases.

He said people were leaving the camp en-mass due to the outbreak of epidemics and other related diseases, stressing that two people were also reported to have been bitten by snakes...

FEAR of epidemic is sweeping through Gumbur in Wase local council of Plateau State, three persons have died while 34 others are currently hospitalized following a cholera outbreak in the area on Sunday, the Council Chairman, Mr. Zakari Abdul, told newsmen Wednesday.

Abdul, who lamented the loss of valuable lives, however, said the diarrhoea and vomiting noticed in the 34 affected persons have been brought under control by the council?s medical personnel...

16 killed, 40 others in hospitals as cholera outbreak hits Sokoto

Sixteen people have been killed in a fresh outbreak of cholera in Sokoto state, while 40 others are on admission in hospitals across the state, a health official has said.

Dr. Bello Dahiru, who has been managing patients at the Primary Health Centre in Kasarawa, a suburb of Sokoto, the state capital, said the deaths and admissions occurred within the last three days.

The outbreak, officials say, has now lasted days, leaving residents of the state in panic.

It is not clear what the state government is doing to halt the epidemic. The state Commissioner for Health, Ahmed Aliyu, did not answer or return calls...

Worth bearing in mind that 28,114 cases of Cholera with 468 fatalities have been reported to Week 31 compared to a total of 6,600 cases reported in 2013.

Nigeria: MSF Responds to Cholera in Borno State

Lagos ? MEDICINS Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders), the international health group, said it had reopened the cholera treatment centre (CTC) in the Borno State Hospital following an outbreak in the region.

According to MSF, already operating in this remote state that was difficult to get to and where the provision of healthcare is extremely limited, MSF was now responding to this latest epidemic.

There have been 4 500 cases and 70 deaths from cholera in barely a month in Borno State's capital and principal town, Maiduguri, and the number of cases continues to rise...
