At least 20 persons have been report?ed dead following the outbreak of cholera in Andoni Local Government Area of Riv?ers State, where 171 cases have been recorded. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Port Harcourt.

Parker, in the statement, said the local government area rapid response team and the state emergency response team responded swiftly.

The state emergency re?sponse team and the social mobilization team, he said, were on ground to contain the outbreak...

Fresh cholera cases reported in Rivers

Two new cases of cholera have been reported in Ikuru town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Alice Nte, a paediatrician at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, made the disclosure on Saturday in Port Harcourt.

She called on the government and relevant organisations to provide potable water and good public toilets to alleviate the plight of residents in the area...

ABAKALIKI?NO fewer than six persons were yesterday confirmed dead while eight others were hospitalized following cholera outbreak in three communities in the state.

The communities affected were Amachi, Edomia and Ikelegu in Abakaliki and Ebonyi Local Government areas of the state.

Confirming the outbreak, the State Director of Public Health and Disease Control, Dr. Christian Achi said six persons died in the council areas while eight persons had been hospitalized and currently receiving treatment in nearby health centres...

Five more persons have been confirmed dead as a result of cholera outbreak ravaging in Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria, since February this year.

The disease, which had claimed 20 lives in the state, had affected 256 persons while more had been hospitalized in various hospitals in the state.

The latest deaths were confirmed by the state Director of Public Health and Disease Control, Ministry of Heath in Abakaliki, Dr. Christian Achi.

Achi said the epidemic had spread to seven of the 13 local government areas of the state...

Eight persons have died while 17 others have been hospitalised following a fresh cholera outbreak in Ebonyi State.
Three of the deaths were recorded in Ndiogbu Ndieze village, Izzi Local Government Area of the state while the remaining five died in Ikwo Local Government Area.

Cholera kills another nine in Ebonyi, as death toll hits 42

Nine more persons were Sunday confirmed dead in Ebonyi following the cholera outbreak in the state.
While two of the victims, a man and his neighbour died in Ozibo Village, Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state, seven died in four communities of Umuezeoka, Umuezeokaha, Ekka and Ori-uzor, Ezza North Local Government Area.
The state Epidemiologist, Dr. Francis Onwe confirmed the death of seven persons in Ezza North and said that over 20 persons had been hospitalised in a private hospital located in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.
