The Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Mr. Haruna Hamman Furo has confirmed cases of measles outbreak ravaging some Internally Displaced Persons' (IDPs') camps and some communities in the state.

Furo made the disclosure on Thursday in Yola at the NYSC camp while receiving a United Nations delegation led by Mrs Leila Zerouji, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Children in Armed Conflict (SRSG), who said they were in the state for fact-findings so as to know where to assist the IDPs ...

17 measles cases recorded in Adamawa

There has been an outbreak of measles in Adamawa State with over 17 cases recorded with the state?s Ministry of Health.

The Director Public Health in the ministry, Chidama Barka, disclosed this to journalists and added that while no deaths had been recorded, there were efforts to contain the outbreak.

In January 2014, the National Emergency Management Agency announced the outbreak of the disease in some Internally Displaced Persons camps in the state...

The Executive Secretary of FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwan Mohammed has disclosed that 10 children at Wasa IDP camp died as a result of measles outbreak last week .

He gave the disclosure on Friday in Abuja during the flag off of the Measles Immunisation campaign in 19 northern states, including FCT.

Rilwanu added that as a result of this measles outbreak which affected about 41 children, the FCT Health Board is targeting 900, 000 children, including children in the Internally Displaced Camps where a lot of children may have been missed out because of insurgency...
