Two young people from France showed up this week at St. Clare's emergency room with measles, a serious viral illness largely under control in the U.S. because of vaccinations, hospital officials said Saturday...

...Allegra said the two young adults are related and came together from France, arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport on April 7, three days before they developed a rash, a symptom of measles. They came to the St. Clare's emergency room this past Tuesday evening and returned the next day, when Allegra said he examined them and diagnosed measles...

...The infected individuals began having symptoms, a cough, on April 8 and developed a rash two days later, Allegra said, adding that they may have been contagious on April 7. Neither had been vaccinated for measles, he said...

NJ Health Dept. Warns of Measles Exposure at Restaurant
Two Women Confirmed With Measles

Patrons who visited a Livingston, N.J. restaurant Sunday may have been exposed to measles and that they should contact their health care provider immediately, according to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.

Two women visiting from France attended a party at the Eppes Essen restaurant on East Mont Pleasant Avenue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, said DHSS. They began showing symptoms of the measles virus three days later, and sought medical treatment at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville on April 12 and 13.

State officials ares urging people who were at the restaurant in that time period to contact their health care provider immediately, and to make the arrangements before walking into a hospital or doctor's office so that other patients are not put at risk...

Officials warn of exposure to measles virus

A man "with probable measles" may have exposed people to the virus at a popular children's restaurant, a toy store and other sites in Camden County, state health officials warned Wednesday...

The warning was directed at anyone who visited eight businesses during specific periods between Thursday and Sunday. Those people should contact their doctors immediately to discuss the risk of developing the illness, health officials said.

The warning covers:

The Pop Shop on Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Home Depot on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday.

Kohl's on Route 38 in Cherry Hill between 6 and 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Magnolia Nursery, on the White Horse Pike Magnolia in between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Also during that period on Sunday: Toys R Us and Walmart, both on Route 38 in Cherry Hill and Lowe's on Oak Avenue in Lawnside.

The virus is not believed to have posed a risk outside of those time periods, according to the health department.

The man, identified only as a Camden County resident, may have been exposed to an infected woman who recently traveled here from Italy, said the state Department of Health and Senior Services.
