ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP ? An elementary school in Alexandria is reporting that strep-related diseases have affected nearly 25-percent of its population of about 240 students, according to the county health department.

The Hunterdon County Department of Health Monday released a statement about an ongoing investigation into what spokesman Carl Rachel said is "an unusual number of streptococcal diseases in children and faculty" at the township's Lester D. Wilson School...

ALEXANDRIA ? A strep outbreak at the elementary school appears to be waning, but water fountains have been shut down as a precaution, according to Hunterdon County health officials.

Administrators at the Lester D. Wilson Elementary School here have shut down water fountains for sanitizing after the school's nurse reported 59 cases of strep throat and seven cases of scarlet fever out of a population of 240 children. County Department of Health spokesman Carl Rachel said those numbers were "out of the range" of normal...
