Nearly 41 thousand Ukrainians getting the flu and colds last week

KIEV. On November 2. UNN. Over the last week in the control cities were reported 40 799 cases of influenza and ARVI, hospitalized 602 people, among hospitalized 91.03% are children under the age of 17 years. About this UNN reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The incidence of influenza and ARVI was 41.71 cases per 10 thousand population, which is 9% lower compared to the previous week.

Among children registered 25 163 cases of influenza and SARS (61.68% of the total number of cases), which is 13.6% lower than last week. The share of children who are sick with flu and colds for age groups ssostavlyaet: up to a year - 8.44%, 1-4 years - 45.45%, 5-9 years - 25.53% 10-14 years - 11.67 % 15-17 years - 8.91%.

During the reporting period, check the cities of deaths among patients with influenza and ARVI have been reported, as well as for the previous week.

In the Ministry of Health also reported that over 43 per week in 2011 in all of the cities, the incidence of influenza and ARVI were below the epidemiological threshold.

In general, the epidemic situation with the incidence of influenza and ARVI in 10 control cities of the Centre of influenza and ARI in Ukraine corresponds to the annual average incidence for the respective seasons.

"Now it is very convenient for prophylactic vaccination against influenza. Over the past week in Ukraine has increased the number of people who have done the preventive vaccine. So, last week there were 56 000. It is approximately 20% more than in the previous three weeks' - said Kolesnikov.

According to her, it is very important when the population is aware of the importance of vaccination against influenza.
However, the percentage of vaccinated populations in Ukraine remains low, because in order to influence the course of the epidemic across the country, it is necessary to have a preventive vaccine for more than 30% of the population.

In Ukraine, have been vaccinated more than 100 thousand people. About 1% of vaccinated against influenza in Ukraine - children under the age of 1 year.
