A student at Riverside Education Centre in Milford is being treated for an infection with the bacteria that can cause meningitis.

The student developed a fever and a rash on Tuesday and was taken to a family doctor, who quickly sent the student to the IWK in Halifax. The student received antibiotic treatment and is recovering well. For privacy reasons, Public Health did not release the student's name, age, or gender... [h=3][/h]

A case of meningococcal disease has been confirmed in a student at Riverside Educational Centre in East Hants, the Nova Scotia Health Authority said Tuesday.

The student tested positive for the Y strain of the disease and public health will be providing vaccines to 12 people who were in close contact with the student...
