Measles case confirmed on RPI campus

troy >> A college student evaluated at Samaritan Hospital?s Emergency Room has since been diagnosed with a confirmed case of measles, officials said Monday.
An unidentified student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ?quickly became ill? and was evaluated at the local hospital. Tests were confirmed within 24 hours and county and state health departments have since been notified.
Lisa Phillips, director of patient services with Rensselaer County?s Public Health Department, said the student was not vaccinated for religious reasons. She said there are 15 individuals not immunized for measles at RPI.

...Anyone who was a patient at or accompanied a patient to Samaritan Hospital Emergency Department in Troy between 8 p.m. Friday through 3:45 a.m. Saturday and is not immune to measles should contact Samaritan Hospital or a county health department immediately to determine if treatment is needed. Preventive treatment must be given within six days of the exposure.
Also, anyone who visited the RPI campus last week from Sunday through Friday or Mohonasen High School in Rotterdam from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 could have been exposed to measles...

The New York State Department of Health (DOH) reported today that
measles has been confirmed in a young child who was admitted to Albany Medical Center, and exposures of members of the public may have occurred. If you were a patient or visitor at Albany Medical Center, New York (Albany County), and have not been immunized against measles, you may be at risk for contracting the disease if you were in any of the following
locations within the facility:
Either the C or D buildings, from 7:45 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Friday, January 31; or
C7 between 8 p.m. Friday, January 31 through midnight on Saturday, February 1.
Albany Medical Center is notifying patients who were in these areas during these times, and has established a hotline for individuals seeking updates and further information: 518-262-2101...

The Rockland County Department of Health has identified a case of measles in Rockland County. Residents may have been exposed to an individual with measles if they were at the Palisades Center Mall on the afternoon of Sunday, February 2nd between 11:00 AM. and 1:00 PM. Specific locations where residents may have been exposed are primarily on the first floor of the mall and specifically at these stores: Best Buy and the AT&T store.
Individuals who may have been at these locations between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM and are part of the high ? risk group below may have been potentially exposed to measles...

A child who was admitted to Albany Medical Center Hospital with measles last week likely contracted the highly contagious respiratory illness on a recent three-week trip to Southeast Asia..
