Syracuse, N.Y. -- A Salina resident hospitalized with Eastern equine encephalitis is an elderly man, according to Dr. Indu Gupta, Onondaga County's health commissioner.

He remains in critical condition, she said.

The patient is this year's first human case of Eastern equine encephalitis in New York and the second nationwide. The county first announced the case Tuesday...
