-The person departed Bali (Denpasar) on Emirates Flight EK450 at 4.45pm local time on 3 July.

-The flight landed at Auckland International Airport at 4.20am on Thursday 4 July.

-The person was seated in economy class, near the rear of the plane.

-People who were also seated in this location and who are not immune to measles may be at risk of catching the illness.

The passenger went into isolation shortly after arriving back in New Zealand...

Taranaki District Health Board?s Public Health Unit was notified of the case after medical attention was sought in New Plymouth.

There have been 16 recorded cases of measles in Wellington this year - the most recent being an infectious person who travelled on a flight from Auckland to the capital.

Health authorities have issued a warning after a passenger infected with measles took flights between Auckland and Palmerston North.

Passengers on flight Air NZ 5119 from Auckland to Palmerston North at 7.20am on Saturday, July 6 and Air NZ 5114 from Palmerston North to Auckland at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 7 may have been exposed to the measles infection from a passenger who flew prior to being diagnosed.

Measles outbreak: Warning after baby infected in Hawke's Bay

Hawke's Bay District Health Board says the infant, who is too young to have been immunised, contracted the highly contagious disease while visiting Auckland.

Medical Officer of Health Dr Nicholas Jones said public health officials were working with the family and other known close contacts to ensure those who were not immunised stay in isolation to avoid further spread of the disease.

Dr Jones said the baby also visited the Flaxmere New World supermarket on Wednesday, 10 July between 5pm and 5.30pm.

Health officials are also directly contacting people who were in the waiting room of Hawke's Bay Hospital's Emergency Department on Friday, 12 July between 8pm, and 2.30am on Saturday, 13 July, and again on Tuesday, 16 July between 4.30pm and 6.40pm.

Those who may have been exposed and are unsure if they're immune and been to those locations or who start developing symptoms are being told to call their doctor or call Healthline...

Measles epidemic: Auckland schools told to send people home if they get a measles case

Auckland schools and childcare centres have been told to send home all unvaccinated children and staff if they get a case of measles this term.

The move comes as schools reopen today after a two-week holiday in which 70 new measles cases were reported across Auckland - almost half as many again as the 157 cases in the first six months of this year to July 4.

Two-thirds of the new cases (45) were in south Auckland, and the biggest group affected so far this year is children under 4 (43 per cent).

Medical Officer of Health Dr Julia Peters said almost 50 Auckland early childhood services and schools have now reported measles cases - about half of them early childhood centres, and including some where staff caught the disease first...

The Medical Officer of Health has been notified of a confirmed case of measles in Thames. Some household members of this case are now in quarantine in case they develop measles. It appears that this person may have been exposed in the vicinity of the McDonald?s at Goldfields Mall in Thames at the beginning of the school holidays (early July).

People who were in the vicinity of McDonald?s Goldfields in Thames at the beginning of the school holidays and were also exposed to measles would already have it by now, and anyone who was there around the dates and times listed below are at risk of developing and spreading measles (if they are not immune):

- Sunday 14 July from 4pm to 9pm

- Wednesday 17 July from 6am to 8:30am

Anyone who thinks they may have measles should telephone their doctor or Healthline (0800 611-116). If you need to be seen it is important to call ahead because measles is highly infectious and people with measles can infect others in waiting rooms, etc...

Two new measles cases have served as reminders for people to remain vigilant.

An infant in Canterbury is thought to have contracted the disease while in Auckland where there is more than 300 confirmed cases.

The child had not yet received their first MMR dose which is given at 15 months.

Anyone who isn't immunised and was in Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department on Friday night between 10pm and 3.45am Saturday or on Sunday between 11.40pm and 1.40am Monday should remain isolated until Monday the 5th of August

It comes one day after it was announced a person who attended the Basketball New Zealand Under 15 Nationals competition over the weekend had measles.

Toi Te Ora Public Health is urging anyone who attended the event at Trustpower Arena in Mount Maunganui from July 17 to 20to be vigilant for the symptoms of measles.

Team members, family, staff and other spectators who attended the tournament may have been exposed...

Nationwide 54 people contracted measles last week - the largest number so far this year - with 50 in Auckland, mostly in the Counties Manukau area.

From last month, health authorities in Auckland started giving out the measles vaccine at one year instead of 15 months, in an effort to curb the region's outbreak of the disease.

There was one case each in Waikato, Hawke's Bay, Capital and Coast and Canterbury.

About a third of all cases are children under nine years old, and the next most common group is people in their 20s.

About 85 percent of those infected are people who have not been vaccinated.

In total 407 people have been confirmed to have had measles in New Zealand this year...

Passengers on a flight from Dunedin to Auckland last week may have been exposed to measles after travelling with someone with the illness.

The infected person travelled on Air New Zealand flight NZ674 from Dunedin to Auckland on July 23, which departed at 2.50pm.

Auckland Regional Public Health Service said the Auckland resident had also flown to Dunedin but was only infectious on his return flight.

Measles outbreak: Auckland has 302 confirmed cases, with an average of eight a day

The total number of confirmed measles cases in Auckland has risen to 302, with an average of eight people a day being diagnosed with the disease.

The outbreak took hold of New Zealand at the start of the year, with cases of the illness rising from a handful in Waikato and Bay of Plenty in January, to about 40 in Canterbury through March.

The disease surfaced in Auckland in late March and has since been worst felt in South Auckland, with over half of all cases - 58 per cent - recorded in Counties Manukau DHB.

Waitemata DHB has had 85 cases, while Auckland DHB is at 41 confirmed cases.

Auckland Regional Public Health Service medicine specialist Dr Maria Poynter said the number of people diagnosed with the illness continues to grow, with the average number of cases each day rising from six a day in July, and three a day in June.

This week has averaged eight cases a day, she said.

Figures show that most cases in Auckland are in children under 5, with 118 recorded cases, and those aged 15 ? 29 years are next in number, with 107...
