Freight shipments are a leading indicator of economic activity. I know the DOW closed at a new high yesterday at 28,004.89. Please see this thread for the amount of billions that the US federal reserve is injecting into the system. Follow links on the thread to get latest info from the New York fed page.

OCTOBER 2019

Cass Freight Index? Report

Economic Outlook from Freight’s Perspective Dropping -5.9% in October, Negative Volume for Eleven Months in a Row Rate of Contraction Getting Worse, Two Years of Growth Erased

snip

Continued deterioration in the Cass Freight Shipments Index concerns us: • With the –5.9% decline in October, following the string of declines in May through September (ranging from -3.0% to -6.0%), we repeat our message from the previous five months: the shipments index has gone from “warning of a potential slowdown” to “signaling an economic contraction.”
