Mysterious disease: Doctors? team visits two villages

A three-member team of doctors visited Kuhi and Podabalanda villages in Sambalpur district to ascertain the cause of death of the villagers under mysterious circumstances.

According to sources, 16 persons have died and more than 11 are afflicted with mysterious disease in the two villages under Ward No-5 of Rairakhol NAC. The villagers said those who died were having fever, loose motion, swelling of body, burning sensation during urination, lack of appetite besides weakness.
It is suspected that the deceased may be suffering from some kind of kidney ailment. What has made the issue complex is that the poverty stricken villagers are illiterate and are unable to afford long term treatment.
