TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time since late spring.
The province confirmed 1,031 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday. The last time the province reported more than 1,000 new cases in a single day was on May 30 when 1,033 new cases were logged...
... Of the new infections reported Friday, 589 cases involved people who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or their vaccination status is unknown. The remaining 442 infections involved people who are fully vaccinated.
Health experts have said that the number of infections in fully vaccinated individuals will rise as more people get the vaccine.
The province recorded four more deaths on Friday, bringing the total death tally in the province to 10,016.
There are currently at least 146 people being treated for COVID-19 in Ontario intensive care units. Health Minister Christine Elliott says that of those patients, 119 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 27 are fully vaccinated...

TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting more than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time since late spring.
The province confirmed 1,031 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday. The last time the province reported more than 1,000 new cases in a single day was on May 30 when 1,033 new cases were logged...

Ontario is reporting 1,184 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total case count in the province to 623,497.
It marks the third day in a row the case count has been higher than 1,000 but overall hospitalizations and ICU occupancy have remained steady.
Of the 1,184 new cases recorded, the data showed 557 were unvaccinated people, 22 were partially vaccinated people, 536 were fully vaccinated people and for 69 people the vaccination status was unknown...

The government is dropping its tentative plan to end the provincial vaccine passport program in mid-January and will require all proof-of-vaccination certificates to include QR codes, a senior government source told CBC News...
...Today's case count marks a 41 per cent increase over last Friday and is the most new infections logged on a single day since May 23, as the third wave of the pandemic was slowly waning.
The seven-day average of daily cases has risen to 1,115, and is currently on pace to double roughly every three weeks.
Public Health Ontario today reported a 4.4 per cent positivity rate on 39,941 tests, by far the highest level of the fourth wave and also the highest one-day rate since May 26.
Still, the burden of COVID-19 on intensive care units has stayed relatively stable. As of Thursday, there were 151 COVID patients in critical care, down from 155 the day before and 17 fewer than the fourth-wave peak of 168 reached earlier this week...

Ontario reported 1,536 further cases of COVID-19 on Monday, as the province's science advisory group warned that about 21 per cent of all new infections are being caused by the omicron variant.
Today's case count is a 73 per cent jump over the same time last week. The seven-day average of daily cases has climbed to 1,328, it's highest point in more than six months and a 41 per cent rise from last Monday.

Ontario reported 1,536 further cases of COVID-19 on Monday, as the province's science advisory group warned that about 21 per cent of all new infections are being caused by the omicron variant.
Today's case count is a 73 per cent jump over the same time last week. The seven-day average of daily cases has climbed to 1,328, it's highest point in more than six months and a 41 per cent rise from last Monday.

Ontario logs 1,429 new cases of COVID-19, positivity rate continues to climb

Health officials in Ontario are reporting 1,429 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday as the positivity rate for the disease climbs higher.
With 33,400 tests processed in the last 24-hour period, the Ministry of Health said that Ontario’s COVID-19 positivity rate is currently 6.6 per cent -- the highest level recorded since May 18 when it reached 7.6 per cent.
Tuesday’s positivity rate marks a significant jump from the 5.5 per cent logged a day earlier...
... Right now, the seven-day average for the number of cases reported in Ontario to 1,400, up from 975 this time last week.
As well, five more deaths related to the novel coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours, pushing Ontario’s COVID-19 death toll to 10,084.
Most of the cases reported Tuesday were found in fully vaccinated individuals with 809 testing positive. At least 493 other infections were found in those who are unvaccinated and 33 were found in those who are partially vaccinated. The vaccination status of the remaining 94 people who tested positive is unknown.
Of the 385 patients in hospital with a COVID-19-related illness, 130 are unvaccinated, 85 are fully vaccinated and 12 are partially vaccinated. No vaccination data was provided for the remaining 158 patients.
In the ICU, 71 patients currently receiving care are unvaccinated, 31 are fully vaccinated, and six are partially vaccinated. The vaccination status of the remaining 54 patients was not disclosed...

Ontario reported its highest COVID-19 case count in more than six months on Wednesday, with active cases now up about 50 per cent in one week.
Ontario reported 1,429 new cases on Tuesday and 1,536 on Monday.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 1,514, up from 1,007 one week ago.
It’s the highest single-day count of cases in Ontario since May 21 when 1,890 cases were detected.
The Ministry of Health says 625 of Wednesday’s cases involve unvaccinated people, 39 involve partially vaccinated people, 1,046 involve fully vaccinated people and the status of 98 others was not known...
