The Perth District Health Unit says flu has arrived in the county.
As of Tuesday, there were 12 lab-confirmed cases. Ten were influenza B and the other two influenza A. The majority of the confirmed flu cases are in children who are not immunized.
"Lab-confirmed cases are usually only a fraction of actual cases of flu in the county," said public health nurse Erica Jensen in a release Wednesday.
"Many people do not see a doctor or get tested when they are sick."

Steve Howe, communications manager for the Avon Maitland District School Board, said only one of the board's 50 schools had an unusually high number of students away Tuesday.
North Easthope Public School near Amulree had about 30 students or about 25% of the school absent, he said. "That being said, we don't know that it's the flu, but I'm sure in some cases it might be."
The daycare at Northwestern Secondary School in Stratford was also reporting a bug going around, he said.
