Andrea Vicari, international adviser immunization of World Health Organization said that although the occurrence of cases of influenza A H1N1 has decreased in Colombia and worldwide, but the risk to be present and a second wave still remains valid .
"It's very important that countries guarantee the protection of high risk groups. The vaccine in these people is very effective in preventing complications and deaths. Although we are in a period of low traffic, you can not predict what will be the behavior of the pandemic in the future. " Vicari added.
The Ministry of Social Protection and the Pan American Health Organization endorsed the AH1N1 virus vaccines are not only effective in preventing this disease, as it has established the World Health Organization, but its implementation is necessary to protect those at greatest risk.
In late March the government initiate a national vaccination campaign for health personnel, pregnant mothers and people with chronic diseases because they are considered high-risk population.
