Five die of diarrhoea in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4 (PTI) At least five persons, including three children and a woman, have died of diarrhoea in two districts of Orissa within the last 24 hours, officials said.

While two adults, including a woman, died in the coastal Puri district, three tribal children succumbed to the water-borne disease in the tribal-dominated Nabarangapur district

Diarrhoea spreads in Orissa's Puri district

Puri: Diarrohea is spreading its tentacles from Sadar block to Krushnaprasad area in Puri district. This week two children died while seventeen others were affected, five of them in serious condition being treated at Chhatrapur and Krushnaprasad hospitals the reports reaching here said.

According to reports, villagers of Laping Bauri Sahi under the Krushnaprasad block were affected of diarrohea and Sabitri Das (2) was shifted to Chhatrapur hospital where she died. In another incident in Krushnaprasad hospital Rina Pahan (4) succumbed to the dreaded disease. The medical team from the district headquarter was rushed to treat the affected in the village while the engineers of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation(RWSS) department went to ensure supply of safe drinking water.
