VALPARAISO .- The Minister of Agriculture, announced today Marigen Hornkohl Ligua, Valparaiso Region, overcoming AH1N1 influenza outbreak detected nearly three months in turkey hens from two plants of the company Sopraval whose quarantine was lifted recently.
Secretary of State stressed that the rapid improvement of the infection resulted from joint work between the Agriculture Ministry, the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG), the Institute of Public Health (ISP) and Sopraval.
"Timely notification by each of the institutions and the rapid action of SAG, allowed to contain the outbreak and take precautionary measures, which both the company and health authorities promptly executed," he said.
Hornkohl reported that quarantine and health strategy included the elevation of the biosecurity measures. Additionally, we applied the clinical follow-up, expansion of surveillance to other productive sectors of the enterprise, establishment of a monitoring plan of the virus in the affected farms and coordination with the Ministry of Health.
The holder of Agriculture said the disease affected only two farms in Sopraval and spread was not evident in other production units of the company.
As for the possible causes that led to the outbreak, said the initial results of research carried out by Minisal revealed that insemination was the activity which he presented to populations of breeding birds to virus infection, from workers affected.
