ISLAMABAD - The National Institute of Health Laboratory has confirmed one type-1 polio case from Peshawar.Thus, the total number of polio cases countrywide in 2012 so far reached 57 (54 type-1, 2 type-3 and 1 mixture of type 1 and 3 WPV), as compared to 194 polio cases during the same time period last year. The total number of infected districts and tribal agencies is 28, as compared to 58 during the same period last year. This is the sixth polio case reported from Peshawar this year. The last polio case had onset of paralysis on October 18. Ammar, son of Hazrat Umer, is an eight-month old child having onset of paralysis on November 20.
