14-year old girl dies of dengue fever in Swat
MINGORA: One more patient died of dengue fever in Saidu Sharif hospital on Friday, taking the death toll from the dengue virus to 58 in Swat.

According to Khyber News correspondent a 14 years old female student Husna died in Saidu Sharif hospital of dengue fever. She was the resident of Aman Kot Swat.

SHANGLA / MINGORA:

Dengue claimed four lives in the province on Friday, with three deaths reported from Swat and one from Shangla.

The three casualties in Swat took the unofficial death toll to 57 in the district. Up until Friday, the official death toll had reached 36, according to the District Health Office (DHO).

Locals said Reshma, 22, a resident of Khwajabad, Fazalullah, 26, a resident of Charbagh, and Husna, 14, a resident of Amankot, died due to dengue fever.

The DHO recorded 21 new dengue cases on Friday, taking the total number of dengue patients in Swat to 8,457. These include 5,806 males and 2,651 females...

...Meanwhile, dengue claimed its second casualty in Shangla when critically ill Rashid died while being shifted from a hospital in Shangla to Mingora...

Mounting casualties: Two suspected dengue patients die in Haripur

HARIPUR:
Two patients, including a woman, suspected to be infected with dengue have died in Haripur. However, health authorities on Saturday denied they were dengue patients.
According to Shakil, a resident of Mangloor Colony in Sera-e-Nehmat Khan, his wife Safia, 45, suffered from high fever and body ache a few days ago. Shakil said he took her to a private hospital and then a basic health unit (BHU) where doctors gave her medicines and advised bed rest. However, Safia could not recover and died on Friday evening.
Shakil added he had his wife?s blood sample tested from a private lab and the reports indicated she was infected with dengue virus.
Meanwhile, another death suspected to be caused by dengue was reported from Behra village. The family of Ali Zaman, 55, said he contracted dengue a few days ahead of Eidul Azha. According to Zaman?s brother Nawaz, his symptoms were similar to those of a dengue patient. He had been suffering from high fever and body ache, said Nawaz.

BISHAM: At least eighty four more cases of dengue fever emerged in Shangla and Mardan districts during Eid holidays, sources said.

As many as 68 more persons, including women and children, contracted dengue fever in Bisham tehsil in Shangla district, local sources said.

The sources said the number of patients suffering from dengue fever in Bisham had reached 878 by the addition of the fresh cases on Saturday.

The disease is spreading fast in Shangla as the number of patients, who tested positive for dengue fever, has jumped to 920 in the district.

Sources said the laboratory test machine at the Bisham hospital was reportedly out of order and the patients were visiting private laboratories for tests.

Our correspondent in Mardan adds: Dengue fever cases have registered a sharp rise in the city as 16 more people including women and children have become its victims during the last 24 hours...

SWAT / SHANGLA:
Another dengue patient died in Swat on Monday, increasing the unofficial death toll to 58 in the district.
The unofficial count was 57 till Friday whereas the official death toll had reached 36, according to the District Health Office (DHO).
On Monday, the virus claimed the life of Faizullah, a 30-year-old resident of Banjot, who died in Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH).

So far, 4,810 dengue positive patients have been registered with the STH and over 4,500 patients have been successfully treated.

SWAT - Another dengue patient died in Swat on Monday, reaching the dengue death toll to 60. Faizullah, a 30-year-old, resident of Banjot Swat, died of dengue virus at the Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH).
According to the official statistics, 58 fresh cases were reported of dengue while totally recorded patients were 8,652 in which 4,368 were discharged from the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.

KARACHI, Oct 23: The death toll from this year’s dengue fever reached 15 in the province on Wednesday when the authorities reported that it claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl living in Keamari.

The young victim died at a private hospital only a couple of days after she had been admitted there, but the provincial authorities received a proper report about her death a week later, said Dr Shakeel Aamir Mullick, focal person for the Sindh dengue surveillance cell, while speaking to Dawn.

KARACHI, Oct 24: Another young patient of dengue died in the city on Thursday only a day after the dengue surveillance cell reported the death of a 12-year-old girl from Keamari.

With the latest addition, this year?s death toll from the lethal virus in the province climbed to 16, officials said.

The 11-year-old boy from Landhi had been admitted on Oct 22 to a private hospital where he died due to some complications two days later, said an official of the Sindh dengue surveillance cell.

KARACHI: Two more dengue viral fever patient died in private hospitals of Karachi and Hyderabad on Friday, increasing the death toll to 18 this year, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.

Mullick said 70-years-old man of Gulistan-e-Jauhar was admitted in private hospital on 21-10-13 and expired on 24th October.

He said the first dengue death was also reported in Hyderabad as 18-years-old resident of Hyderabad admitted in a hospital on 21-10-13, died on Friday.

Dr Shakeel Mullick said both cases were reported to Dengue Surveillance Cell on Friday. He said total 17 dengue fever patients have died in the Karachi and one in Hyderabad so far.

KARACHI: Despite tall claims made by the provincial government and authorities of health department of their precautionary steps and mass awareness campaigns in the province, dengue fever has not been controlled yet.

Two more patients suffering from dengue fever died at different private hospitals during the past week bringing the dengue death toll in Sindh to 18 in the current year, revealed Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell focal person Dr Shakeel Mullick on Friday.

Dr Mullick said that an 80-year-old man, resident of Gulistan-e-Johar, who was admitted in a private hospital on October 21, died on Thursday.

Talking about the 18th death due to dengue fever, Dr Mullick informed that another male, aged 18, a resident of Hyderabad who was admitted in a private hospital on October 21 died on Friday; however he said that Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell has not received the names and other details of the victims.

During the current year, Sindh Dengue Surveillance Cell recorded 34 new positive cases just on Friday alone and so far since January, the cell has recorded a total 2,706 positive cases of dengue fever in Karachi, and 397 in other districts of the province...

LAHORE: The second death due to the dengue fever was reported today as a man died here due to the fever in a private hospital, SAMAA reports on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man Asif died in the Holy Family Hospital of the city. He was brought in the hospital for treatment two days ago but could not survive.

According to Health Department figures, 670 new dengue cases were reported across Punjab so far in the season.

ISLAMABAD / RAWALPINDI:

It seems the preparedness to face the menace of dengue has slacked as the three government teaching hospitals in Rawalpindi are receiving 20 to 25 fresh cases almost every day.

Dhok Hassu and areas near IJP Road are the worst-hit localities.

According to the surveillance officer of the Punjab Health Department, 250 patients have been tested positive for dengue fever in Rawalpindi this year, with two deaths.

However, Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Medical Superintendent Arshad Sabir said that a total of 722 suspected cases have been reported at the hospital since September, 330 of which tested positive.

This clearly reflects the lack of coordination between the hospital administration and the health department...

KARACHI, Oct 29: As the current year attained the dubious distinction of a calendar year with the highest number of confirmed cases of dengue fever, another child died of the viral disease on Tuesday bringing this month?s tally to nine in Karachi, officials said.

The five-year-old boy ? the youngest of all the 11 male patients of dengue who died this year ? hailed from Lines Area.

This was the 21st death of the year in the province reported by the Sindh dengue surveillance cell.

Bawar Khan, 75, died at Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH) on Wednesday, increasing the official death toll in Swat to 37.
Meanwhile the district health office said 25 more cases were identified in Swat district, after which the total count mounted to 8,912. According to unofficial records, 63 people have died in the district so far.
