Dengue death toll rises to 8 in Punjab

LAHORE, Nov 01 (INP): Two more people have lost their lives to the dengue virus in Punjab, raising the death toll in the province to eight.

During the last 24 hours, 59 dengue cases were confirmed in the province. Figures by the provincial health department state that 440 patients are being treated for dengue in hospitals.

LAHORE, Oct 31: A nine-year-old girl succumbed to dengue fever at a private hospital in the city late on Wednesday night.

It was the third dengue-related death in the provincial capital this season.

A resident of Mozang, Atika was a class-IV student at a school located near Model Town.

The girl?s family alleged that doctors at Children?s Hospital did not provide her with proper treatment and discharged her without diagnosing the disease.

A 26-year-old woman has become the 20th person in Karachi to have died of dengue this year.

The Dengue Surveillance Cell said on Friday the woman, who lived in Kala Board, Malir, was admitted to a hospital on October 27 and she expired on 31st.

Besides the 20 casualties in Karachi this year, the disease has claimed two lives in Hyderabad too.

Overall, 3,217 dengue fever cases have been detected in Karachi this year, and 513 in the rest of the province.

KARACHI, Nov 4: Another young person died of dengue fever in a hospital, taking this year?s death toll from the viral disease to 23 in the Sindh province, said officials of the dengue surveillance cell of Sindh on Monday.

The 30-year-old man was a resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, said Dr Shakeel Mullick, the focal person for the dengue surveillance cell.

He said that the patient had been admitted to the hospital on Nov 1 and he died during treatment on Sunday. However, the case was reported to the cell only on Monday, he added.

Only last week the disease claimed four lives: a 26-year-old woman from Malir, a 67-year-old woman from Nazimabad, a 20-year-old woman hailing from Hyderabad and a five-year-old boy from Lines Area.

Karachi: Dengue fever death toll reaches 22



KARACHI: The dengue fever death toll in Karachi reached 22 as another patients died in the city on Tuesday.

In Sindh province so far 24 dengue patients had died, 22 in the city and two in Hyderabad.

Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick, Provincial Focal Person (Dengue Surveillance Sindh), said a 34 years old man resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal died on November 4. He was admitted in hospital on November 2.

He said 34 new dengue cases were reported late by health facilities: 2 on Nov 1, 2 on Nov 3, and 27 on November 7.

He said so 3414 dengue cases have been reported this year in Karachi, 505 in Hyderabad and 36 in rest of Sindh.

The victim was a 23-year-old man who resided in Mehmoodabad. He was admitted to a hospital on Monday and succumbed to the disease on Wednesday. The man was the fourth dengue patient to die this month...

LAHORE: A 20-year-old girl died of dengue at Ittefaq Hospital on Monday while 57 dengue cases were reported in Punjab between Monday and Sunday including 22 in the city.

The victim was identified as Shireen, 20, and the total number of dengue-related deaths has reached 11 in Punjab besides 1,564 dengue affected cases so far in the province...

LAHORE, Nov 11: A pregnant woman died of dengue at a private hospital in the wee hours on Monday.

Reports said 20-year-old Sheral, a resident of Bahar Colony, was shifted to the hospital with multiple complications of the dengue fever.

She was pregnant and her platelet count dropped to the critical level which led to her immediate death.

Dengue claims another life, 44 new cases surface

LAHORE: Another dengue patient died in a government hospital on Wednesday, while another 44 cases of dengue were confirmed in different city hospitals, raising the total number dengue cases to over 900.

The death toll caused by the disease across the province this year has reached 16, of which 10 deaths took place in Lahore alone...

KARACHI: Seventeen more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Wednesday, increasing the patients toll to 3834 in 2013, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.

He said that a total of 4411 dengue fever cases have been reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of which 3834 were detected in Karachi and 577 in rest of Sindh province.

He informed that 24 dengue fever patients died in Karachi, while two expired in Hyderabad this year so far...

ANOTHER patient has fallen victim to dengue fever in Lahore on Sunday, which raised the total number of deaths due to dengue fever to 15 in Punjab and 11 in Lahore.

A dengue patient, Anwar, 70, died of dengue fever in Sheikh Zayed Hospital. Punjab Health Department has confirmed the death of the patient due to dengue fever.

Meanwhile, other 89 new cases of dengue fever have been confirmed positive in Punjab, which raised the total number of reported dengue positive cases to 1,920 in Punjab so far this season...

LAHORE: Dengue virus claimed three more lives in Punjab on Wednesday, raising the number of deaths in the province from the deadly disease to eighteen, SAMAA reports.

According to the Punjab Health Department, the victims were identified as 37-year-old Veena, 36-year-old Nazima Aarif and 17-year-old Noman Malik. All three were admitted in Rawalpindi hospitals.
