KARACHI: Dengue fever claimed another life in Karachi on Friday, raising the total death toll to four this year.

The deceased, 15-year-old Areej Illyas, a resident of Saeedabad, Baldia Town, had been taken to Civil hospital with a high fever where she died during treatment, local media reported.

A suspected case of dengue was reported at Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH) in Mingora on Tuesday. If confirmed, it would be third case of dengue at the hospital in one week.

Five suspected dengue patients, including two women and a minor girl, died at various health care facilities across Hazara Division.

HARIPUR: The first dengue-related death was reported from Haripur district, official sources said here on Friday.

However, the Health Department denied that there was any death or dengue suspect registered with it. Sources at the Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) Abbottabad said that between August 30 and September 3 two patients including a woman carrying dengue symptoms died at the AMC.

KARACHI: Provincial Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that during last week 339 cases of dengue virus diagnosed patients were reported, out of which 330 patients belonged to Karachi and one patient died due to severe condition.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday he said that two patients were from Umerkot, four were from Mirpurkhas and one each from Sukkur, Larkana and Ghotki. So far 2,017 cases of dengue virus have been reported...
