Another polio case detected in Sujawal

HYDERABAD:
An eight-year-old became the latest victim of the polio virus in a coastal village of Sujawal district, making it the fifth case of the crippling virus in the province this year.

Azeem Pathan, son of Abdul Rehman Pathan, is a native of a village in Khothi union council in Jati taluka.

Coordinator of the Emergency Operation Centre for Polio Fayaz Jatoi told The Express Tribune, ?The child was given three doses of polio vaccine [at different times]. Unfortunately, he couldn?t develop immunity.?

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) ? A policeman guarding polio workers on the second day of a vaccination campaign was killed in a roadside blast in Peshawar today (Tuesday).

The explosion occurred near MCA School in Daudzai area, injuring two policemen. They were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where one of them identified as Nazir succumbed to his injuries...

So far, the total number of polio patients in the country has escalated to 17 in current year.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) ? Another polio case on Wednesday surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), taking toll to nine in current year.

According to health department, polio virus has been diagnosed in Adbul Wahid?s nine-month-old daughter Sadia in Kohistan?s Dassu area.

The total number of polio patients in the country has escalated to 17 in which nine people are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), two from FATA, five from Sindh while one case was reported in Balochistan...

In a short span of less than two months, the second polio case has been detected in Badin district.

Seven-year-old Imran Jat tested positive for polio on Tuesday. Earlier in November, Imran?s nine-month-old cousin, Alim Khatoon, was diagnosed with polio, said district focal person Dr Mehboob Khowaja. The cousins live in the same home in Mohammad Qasim Jat village in Badin district?s Kario Ganwar rural town...

KARACHI: Pakistan?s polio eradication efforts faced another setback on Wednesday when a child in Sindh?s Badin district was tested positive for the disease, taking the number of cases reported this year in the province to eight and in the country overall to 19.

A spokesperson for the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Sindh said six-year old Imran Javed in Badin had tested positive for polio and an investigation was under way.

He added that it was the third polio case reported in the coastal belt of Sindh during the last two months...
